Can you name an organization working to improve race relations today?

From About.com

Question: Can you name an organization working to improve race relations today?

Although my perspective on "tolerance" as the solution for race relations issues tends, in general, to be somewhat skeptical because I feel we aim low when we seek only to tolerate, there is one organization that appears to have taken this movement to the next level.

Answer: Tolerance.org is an organization that has created its own definition of the word, and in doing so, has made great strides toward building respect and appreciation of diversity.

Tolerance.org adopts UNESCO's definition of tolerance: "...respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. Tolerance is harmony in difference."

As stated on their website, "We view tolerance as a way of thinking and feeling — but most importantly, of acting — that gives us peace in our individuality, respect for those unlike us, the wisdom to discern humane values and the courage to act upon them."

Tolerance.org promotes and supports anti-bias activism in every venue of life - educating visitors about ways to dismantle bias in their schools, places of work, homes, and communities.

Visit them at www.tolerance.org and learn more about the valuable work this organization is doing.
